CM Women Employment Scheme: ₹10,000 to Reach 75 Lakh Women’s Accounts on September 26 in PM Modi’s Presence

The Bihar government is set to deliver a festive gift to lakhs of women across the state under the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme (Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana). On September 26, 2025, the first installment of ₹10,000 will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women, marking the official rollout of the scheme.
This ambitious financial assistance initiative will be launched during a state-level program in Bihar, which will also see the virtual presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will attend as the chief guest, while several senior state officials and representatives of women’s self-help groups will also participate.
First Installment of ₹10,000 to Women Beneficiaries
According to the Bihar Rural Development Department, the government will disburse nearly ₹7,500 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible women under the scheme’s first phase. District Magistrates across all 38 districts have already been instructed to organize events at the local and panchayat levels to ensure smooth implementation.
Members of Jeevika Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will also actively take part in these programs, further highlighting the scheme’s focus on community empowerment.
So far, the response has been overwhelming: more than 1.11 crore women from both urban and rural regions have applied for the scheme. Out of these, 75 lakh women are set to receive the first installment of financial aid.
What is the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme?
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana is a flagship program designed to promote women’s entrepreneurship and self-reliance in Bihar.
-
Initial Support: Each family can nominate one woman to receive the financial benefit. The scheme begins with a first installment of ₹10,000, intended to help women set up small-scale income-generating activities.
-
Additional Assistance: After six months, women may become eligible for an additional financial package of up to ₹2 lakh. This support is aimed at helping them expand their chosen ventures.
-
Sectors of Investment: The government envisions women investing in activities such as farming, animal husbandry, tailoring, handicrafts, weaving, and other micro-businesses. This will not only generate income but also contribute to strengthening Bihar’s rural economy.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has emphasized that the scheme represents a concrete step toward women’s economic empowerment, reducing dependency, and enabling households to become financially resilient.
Mandatory Link with Jeevika SHGs
To benefit from the scheme, women must be members of Jeevika Self-Help Groups. This requirement ensures that beneficiaries are connected with community-based financial and support networks, which can help them sustain and grow their businesses.
Importantly, the process of joining these groups and applying for the scheme is completely free of cost. The government has clarified that no official or authority is authorized to demand money for enrollment or processing applications.
Why This Scheme Matters
The Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme is more than just a financial grant. It is a long-term vision for empowering women in Bihar, encouraging them to take control of their economic futures. By injecting financial assistance directly into women’s bank accounts, the program eliminates middlemen and ensures transparency.
The initial ₹10,000 installment is expected to provide a much-needed boost for women who wish to start small ventures, while the upcoming support of up to ₹2 lakh will allow them to scale their efforts. From self-employment to community-driven businesses, the scheme holds the potential to transform the socio-economic landscape of Bihar.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi joins virtually and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar leads the event in person, September 26 will mark a historic moment for women empowerment in Bihar—a day when lakhs of women take their first step toward entrepreneurship and financial independence.
