Cleaner Turns Out Richer Than CEO; Assets Worth ₹7 Crore Revealed
A company CEO shared a post on social media revealing that a cleaner at his firm is wealthier than he is. At just 63 years old, the cleaner has amassed assets worth approximately ₹7 crore.
Typically, those with high salaries are considered wealthy, while those with lower incomes are perceived as poor. But what if you discovered that someone working under you was actually many times wealthier than you? Such a revelation would surely leave anyone stunned. A case like this has recently come to light, where a company’s cleaner has turned out to be wealthier than its CEO.
A post currently going viral on social media reveals that a 63-year-old cleaner managed to accumulate assets worth about ₹7 crore over the course of his career. Remarkably, his total net worth is more than double that of the company’s CEO.
What does the post say?
The post, shared on the social networking site X (formerly Twitter), explains that a cleaner named Antonio had been working in the same office for about 30 years. He made it a priority to save a significant portion of his earnings. He would commute to work in an old car, bring coffee from home, and avoid spending money on dining out. Together with his wife, he saved diligently over a long period. They purchased assets in line with their income and gradually increased their investments.
Substantial earnings from two apartments
According to the post, the home Antonio lived in was fully paid off—with no outstanding mortgage. Additionally, he had purchased two small apartments in 1996 and 2001, which he rented out. These two properties generated a monthly rental income of approximately 1,300 Euros—equivalent to over ₹1 lakh. Furthermore, he had been investing a portion of his savings for over 20 years. The total value of his assets and investments was reported to be around 650,000 euros—approximately 70 million rupees (7 crore rupees). According to the post, he also had no outstanding bank loans.
Why was the CEO’s net worth lower?
The post also explains why the CEO’s net worth remained lower. According to the post, the company CEO earned an annual salary of approximately 19 million rupees (1.9 crore rupees). While he owned expensive cars and significant assets, he also carried a substantial amount of debt. After accounting for all his assets and liabilities, the CEO’s net worth stood at around 300,000 euros—approximately 32 million rupees (3.2 crore rupees). Consequently, the cleaner’s reported wealth was more than double the CEO’s net worth.
Lessons on building wealth from a cleaner
This story offers a valuable lesson: earning a high income alone is not enough to become wealthy. Consistent saving, prudent investing, spending in line with one’s actual needs, and keeping debt under control are equally essential.
