Around 1 crore central employees and pensioners in the country get benefits through the Central Government Health Scheme. This scheme was started by the Government of India in the year 1954, which now provides facilities in more than 80 cities of the country. Through this scheme, cashless treatment is available in empanelled hospitals. Which includes 1500 government and private hospitals and dispensaries of the country. Cheap medicines are also available in the CGHS scheme.

Recently, big news related to this scheme has come. Major changes can be made in this scheme by the government. Which includes facilities like shortage of staff, availability of medicines and connecting private hospitals for subsidized treatment. If this happens, then crores of central employees and pensioners will benefit greatly from it.

These changes can happen

If we talk about these changes, then new wellness centers can be opened under the CGHS scheme. These include cities like Pune, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Balasore, Chennai, Puducherry and Jammu. Apart from these wellness  centers, recruitment process is also going to be started through Staff Selection Commission to overcome the shortage of staff in the rest of the wellness centres in the country. It has been seen many times that pensioners get delayed in getting medical refund claim. This problem will also be fixed now.
