CBSE Class 10 Board Exams: The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to conduct the 10th board examination twice a year from 2026, which will give students an additional chance to improve.
If you or your children are preparing for class 10th then this news is very important for you. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major change in the method of class 10th board examinations from 2026. Now students will get a chance to appear in the examination twice a year. Its purpose is to reduce the pressure on the students and give them a second chance to perform better.
What is the new rule?
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has informed that now the 10th board examination will be held in two phases, the first phase will be held in February and the second in May.
However, one special thing in this is that it will be mandatory for all the students to appear in the first examination. At the same time, the second exam will be completely optional. That is, if a student is not satisfied with his marks in the first attempt, he can appear for the second exam.
Why was this decision taken?
This decision of CBSE has been taken as per the recommendations of the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Its purpose is to provide a flexible and stress-free environment to the students so that they can learn from their mistakes and improve. The board believes that a student's talent cannot be fully evaluated by a single exam.
