Cashless treatment worth Rs 1.5 lakh for road accident victims, PM Modi to launch scheme, full details here...
Approximately 500,000 road accidents occur in India every year, resulting in 180,000 deaths. Many of these deaths are due to a lack of timely medical treatment. Hundreds of lives could be saved if prompt treatment were available. One major obstacle to treatment is the cost. Who will bear the significant expenses of medical treatment? Often, relatives are not present, or if they are, they lack the necessary funds. The central government is now addressing these very problems.
PM Modi to Launch Scheme
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon launch a cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims across the country. A pilot project is already underway, and PM Modi will formally launch the scheme soon.
Gadkari said, "This scheme is being introduced to reduce deaths caused by the lack of timely medical assistance in road accidents." Important issues such as road safety, passenger convenience, ease of doing business, and vehicle regulation were also discussed at the meeting.
Which Accidents Will This Scheme Cover?
This scheme will apply to all road accidents involving the use of a motor vehicle on any category of road. Any person injured in a road accident involving a motor vehicle will be entitled to cashless treatment under the provisions of this scheme. The availability of cashless treatment is expected to make it easier for people injured in road accidents to receive timely medical care.
