Cashless health scheme: Madhya Pradesh government employees may get cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh; learn more about this scheme..
The start of the new year 2026 could bring significant relief to millions of government employees and pensioners in Madhya Pradesh. The state government is preparing to launch a new and comprehensive health scheme, similar to the Ayushman Bharat program, to address the long-standing concerns of employees regarding medical expenses. Under this proposed scheme, employees and their families will receive cashless treatment facilities.
Currently, employees have to bear the full cost of treatment themselves and then go through a lengthy reimbursement process. Under the new system, treatment will be possible directly at the hospital using a card. Similar to Haryana and Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh is also moving towards implementing an organized and cashless health insurance model for its government employees.
What is this scheme?
This proposed Chief Minister's Ayushman Health Insurance Scheme is being introduced for state officers, employees, and pensioners. It aims to provide cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh for general illnesses and up to Rs. 10 lakh for serious illnesses. The scheme will also include designated private hospitals within and outside the state to ensure access to better treatment when needed.
How much will the contribution be?
To operate this scheme, a monthly contribution of Rs. 250 to Rs. 1000 will be deducted from the salaries and pensions of employees and pensioners. The remaining amount will be borne by the government. The government claims that this will significantly reduce the financial burden of medical expenses and enable employees to receive timely and better healthcare services.
Families of retired employees will also benefit
The scheme will benefit permanent, temporary, and contractual employees, as well as the families of retired employees. In addition, Anganwadi workers, helpers, Panchayat secretaries, Gram Rozgar Sahayaks, ASHA and Usha workers, Home Guards, Kotwars, and employees working in the state's autonomous institutions are also being included under its purview. It is estimated that more than 15 lakh people will directly benefit from this scheme, providing a strong guarantee of health security to millions of families in the state.
