Car Parking: Namo Bharat passengers receive a shock on New Year's Day; they will now have to shell out more money for car parking..
Namo Bharat Station Car Parking Fee Hike: If you travel by Namo Bharat train and park your car at the station, this news is for you. With the start of the new year, the NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation) has delivered a significant blow to passengers with a steep price increase. Car parking fees at stations along the Delhi-Meerut corridor have been increased by up to two and a half times.
What are the changes?
Previously, you had to pay only ₹30 for parking your car for 12 to 16 hours, but now you will have to pay ₹80 for the same duration. These new rates came into effect on January 1, 2026.
A look at the new rate card:
4-wheeler (Car)
12 to 16 hours of parking now costs ₹80 (previously ₹30).
Monthly Pass
The monthly pass for cars is ₹2000 per month, and for two-wheelers, it is ₹600 per month.
A silver lining
There is currently no change in the daily parking fees for bicycles and two-wheelers (bikes/scooters).
Free Entry
Vehicles coming for pick-up and drop-off will continue to get free entry for up to 10 minutes, as before.
Why the price increase?
NCRTC officials say that the parking fees have now been brought in line with Delhi Metro (DMRC) rates. This change has been implemented only for four-wheelers (cars) to improve the system.
Passenger dissatisfaction
This sudden increase has upset daily commuters. Passengers say that the Namo Bharat fare is already high, and now the increase in parking fees will put an additional burden on their pockets. Many have even said that they will now stop bringing their cars to the station altogether.
