In the present times, people give priority to doing business rather than a job. Everyone wants to be their boss. Nowadays, the government is promoting those doing business. Similarly, the demand for the dairy industry is continuously increasing in India. There is a lot of potential in this sector, given that the Uttar Pradesh government is running many schemes to increase milk production. One such scheme is Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, which aims to promote dairy farming by giving significant subsidies to farmers. If you are thinking of starting a dairy farm, then you can take advantage of this scheme.

What is Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana?
The Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana launched by the Uttar Pradesh government in 2023 under the Nand Baba Mission aims to improve the breed of cattle in the state and increase milk production. Led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the scheme focuses on raising breeds such as Sahiwal, Gir, Tharparkar, and Gangatiri to increase both milk production and income of dairy farmers. The Dairy Commissioner and Mission Director oversee the implementation of the scheme, which aims to improve the breed to overcome the low rate of milk production per animal prevalent in Uttar Pradesh.

The government is giving subsidies and other benefits.
Under the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana subsidy amount, the government provides a substantial subsidy of 50% on an estimated cost of Rs 62.5 lakh for setting up a dairy unit with 25 milch cows. The maximum subsidy per beneficiary is Rs 31.25 lakh. Initially, the scheme will be implemented in ten divisional headquarters across the state. To be eligible, beneficiaries must have at least 3 years of animal husbandry experience and meet the land-related eligibility criteria.

Eligible breed of cows
Let us tell you that the beneficiaries of the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana are required to invest in cows of better breeds including Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, and Gangatiri, which are famous for their high milk production. This scheme is for the farmers and dairy farmers of Uttar Pradesh, where despite being at the top in milk production, milk production per animal remains low due to a lack of high-quality dairy animals. By promoting these better breeds, the government aims to overcome this gap and increase the level of milk production in the state.

This is how you will get the benefit of the scheme.
According to the information, this scheme runs in three phases, beneficiaries get benefits in each phase. In the first phase, a 25% subsidy is provided for the construction of dairy units (Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana's three stages). The subsequent stages include the purchase of milch cows, their insurance for 3 years, a 12.5% subsidy for transportation, and the remaining 12.5% subsidy of the project cost in the final stage.

What is the eligibility and which documents are required?

To avail of the benefits of this government scheme (Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana benefits), applicants must have at least 3 years of experience in animal husbandry and ensure the tagging of cows' ears. Additionally, they must have at least 0.5 acres of land to set up a dairy unit and 1.5 acres of land for green fodder. The required documents include identity proof, residence certificate, income certificate, bank account details, passport-size photographs, and mobile number linked to Aadhaar (documents required for Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana application).

You can apply in this way.
Animal husbandry farmers can apply for this scheme both online and offline (application for Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana). If more applications are received, the selection will be done through e-lottery by a committee headed by the Chief Development Officer. The initial phase of the scheme has been launched in districts including Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Agra, and Bareilly.
