Building a house near an airport typically involves significant challenges. Constructing a home in such proximity requires obtaining prior approvals and undergoing various verification processes. However, this process could soon become easier; Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu recently held a meeting with officials from the Ministry and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), emphasizing the need to enhance the 'Ease of Doing Business' within the aviation sector. Specifically, instructions were issued to formulate a proposal within 15 days to simplify and expedite the 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) process required for construction activities near airports.

**Proposal to Provide Building Height Information Upfront**
The government is reportedly considering a system that would allow applicants to ascertain permissible building heights at the initial stage itself. Discussions were held regarding options to make this information available at the time of application in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, and to decentralize the NOC issuance process to the local municipal body level.

**Potential Reduction in Physical Site Verifications**
The meeting also explored ways to reduce the physical site verifications required for aeronautical studies. Currently, the NOCAS system covers areas extending up to 20 km from airports for VFR (Visual Flight Rules) operations and up to 56 km for IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) operations. This scope impacts the approval process for construction projects located within these zones.
