Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana has been launched to promote agriculture. Crop diversification will be promoted. Post-harvest facilities will be improved. 1.7 crore farmers are expected to benefit from this scheme.
Promotion of pulse production
A 6-year mission has been launched to increase the production of pulses in the country. In this, emphasis will be laid on the cultivation of pulses like tur, urad and masoor. Under this scheme, cooperative institutions like NAFED and NCCF will buy pulses from farmers for the next 4 years. Farmers will get additional support for pulse production.
Establishment of Makhana Board in Bihar
Makhana Board will be formed for Makhana farmers of Bihar. With this, farmers will be organized through FPO. They will get direct benefits from government schemes. There will be improvements in the processing and marketing of Makhana. With the formation of the board, all the schemes will be connected. For example, at present, the Bihar government is running Makhana Vikas Yojana. Apart from this, different schemes are being run by the MSME and Food Processing Ministry of the Central Government. With the formation of this board, all these schemes will be connected.
Limit of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) increased.
Earlier the limit of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) was Rs 3 lakh, which has now been increased to Rs 5 lakh. Farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers will benefit from this. Farmers up to 75 years of age can get this card made. Validity will be 5 years. This amount can be withdrawn through ATM, smart card and mobile banking. By June 2023, 7.4 crore farmers across the country have KCC cards.
Emphasis on new seeds and research
Research Ecosystem Mission will be launched to promote new technology in agriculture. This mission will focus on developing high-yielding, pest-resistant, and climate-tolerant seeds. More than 100 new seed varieties will be commercially released in 2024.
5-year plan for cotton production
A special 5-year mission has been launched to increase cotton productivity in India. Its goal is to promote extra-long staple cotton varieties. To strengthen the Indian textile industry. On the other hand, in view of the increasing demand for horticultural products (fruits and vegetables), grain, fruit and vegetable producers will be supported. The supply chain and processing will be strengthened.
