But it does not seem that the government can take any such step.

According to media reports, employee organizations are expecting the government can include the provisions of OPS in NPS itself. However, senior officials of the National Joint Council of Action, members of the National Council of Staff Side, and the General Secretary of All India Defense Employees Federation say that the employees only want guaranteed old pensions.
Employees not happy with NPS
Employee organizations believe that reforms in NPS are not acceptable. On the other hand, the National President of NMOPS has met more than two dozen MPs of the ruling and opposition, including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, on the issue of restoration of old pensions during the Parliament session.
