In such a situation, it is expected that the government can give a big gift to the PF account holders, and under this the salary limit can be increased.
If media reports are to be believed, the Employees Provident Fund Organization can increase the salary limit of the employees. The Union Finance Ministry may now consider increasing the limit of the provident fund after keeping this limit at Rs 15,000 for a decade.
It is expected that the government can now increase this limit to Rs 25,000 and the Ministry of Labor and Employment has prepared a proposal regarding this. The Centre had last revised the maximum limit of contribution under the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) on September 1, 2014, when it was Rs 6,500.
