We have told you through many of our articles that many documents for Indians like Aadhar Cards, PAN cards, Voter ID, Driving License, and Passport are required for birth certificates for government and non-government work. Many people believe that birth certificate is only required for admission in school, but in reality, its importance is much more, let's know the complete details about it

1. Birth Certificate Application and Change Deadline

The Government of India has set a deadline of 27 April 2026 for citizens to apply for birth certificate or make any correction in the information given in their birth certificate. Apart from this, if there is any wrong information in the birth certificate, then changes can be made only before the deadline. After 27 April 2026, no further changes or corrections will be allowed.

2. Change in rules for birth certificate application

Earlier, birth certificates could only be applied for within 15 years of birth. However, the government has now extended this rule. Now, citizens above the age of 15 can also apply for their birth certificates, which was not possible earlier. The deadline for this was originally set as December 31, 2024.

3. How to apply for a birth certificate

For new applications: If you do not have a birth certificate, you can apply online by visiting the official website of the Government of India: https://dc.crsorgi.gov.in/crs.

For changes in existing certificates: Those who need to make changes to their birth certificates or who are above 15 years of age will have to apply offline. To do so, visit the local municipal office or the designated authority in your area.
