Bihar’s ‘Revenue Mega Campaign’: Doorstep Correction of Land Records, Know How to Avail the Benefit

For millions of landowners in Bihar, a major relief initiative has been launched. The state government has rolled out the “Revenue Mega Campaign” (Rajaswa Maha Abhiyan) to resolve long-pending land record issues. This campaign is expected to provide citizens with quick and hassle-free solutions, eliminating the need to run from one government office to another.
What is the Revenue Mega Campaign?
Land disputes and record errors have been a common problem in Bihar for decades. Many landowners often face issues in their Jamabandi (land records) such as incorrect name, father’s name, Khata-Khesra number, land area, or rent details. In some cases, records are still in the names of ancestors or remain undivided among family members.
To address these challenges, the state’s Revenue and Land Reforms Department has started this special campaign. It will run from 16 August to 20 September 2025, ensuring citizens get corrections made in a structured and transparent manner.
Key Objectives of the Campaign
The Revenue Department has outlined four major goals of this initiative:
-
Correction in digitized Jamabandi records – Fixing errors in names, areas, or other recorded details.
-
Succession entry (mutation) – Updating ownership records in the names of legal heirs after the death of a landholder.
-
Partition entry (mutation) – Recording land division based on mutual agreements, registered deeds, or court orders.
-
Digitization of non-digital records – Bringing pending paper records into the digital system.
Where and How Will the Work Be Done?
Under this initiative, special camps will be organized at the panchayat level from 19 August to 20 September 2025. These camps will usually be set up at Panchayat Government Bhawans or other government buildings.
Citizens can check camp schedules on the Maha Abhiyan portal or through local revenue officials and Panchayat representatives.
What Will Happen at the Camps?
-
Each camp will have 10 special surveyors equipped with laptops and internet.
-
Revenue employees will serve as camp in-charges and submit daily reports through the portal.
-
Additional Collectors will send consolidated reports to the department every evening by 6 PM.
This system ensures accountability and real-time monitoring of progress.
Door-to-Door Visits for Citizens
Between 16 August and 15 September 2025, revenue department teams will also visit people’s homes.
-
They will distribute copies of digitized Jamabandi records and application forms.
-
Citizens can also download forms from the official portal: https://biharbhumiplus.bihar.gov.in/mah/.
What Happens After Application Submission?
Once an application is submitted at the camp:
-
The applicant’s name and mobile number will be verified through an OTP and entered on the portal.
-
The application will then be uploaded online.
-
Applicants will receive real-time updates on their mobile phones regarding the status of their requests.
Why This Matters for Landowners
This campaign is seen as a landmark initiative that could bring relief to lakhs of families. Land disputes and errors in documents often create long legal battles and financial strain. With this doorstep service and transparent digital process, citizens will no longer have to make repeated visits to government offices.
Experts believe this initiative will not only reduce disputes but also strengthen public trust in land administration.
Final Word
The Revenue Mega Campaign in Bihar is more than just a correction drive—it is a step toward transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric governance. For landowners struggling with errors in land records, this could be the most convenient opportunity in years to set things right.
