Bihar Election 2025 Phase 1: Don't worry if you don't have a voter ID. The Election Commission has released a list of 12 optional documents for voting in the Bihar Assembly elections.

Bihar Election 2025 Phase 1: Voting for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections is drawing near. Voting in Bihar will be held in two phases: the first phase on November 6th and the second phase on November 11th. During every election, there are many people who do not have a voter ID card, but their names are on the voter list. This raises the question: can they vote? The answer is yes. The Election Commission has made special arrangements for those who are unable to present their voter ID card.

The Commission states that if a voter's name is on the voter list, they can cast their vote by presenting one of 12 valid identification documents. This measure aims to ensure that no citizen loses their right to vote simply because they don't have a voter ID. Check out the documents included in the list.

Votes Can Be Cast Even Without a Voter ID

The Election Commission has directed the Chief Electoral Officers of states to ensure that all voters receive EPIC cards on time. Those who do not yet have them can cast their vote using one of 12 optional photo identity cards. The Commission stated that under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and the Electoral Roll Rules, 1960,

it has the authority to approve such optional documents to ensure voter identification. This arrangement will also be implemented in the upcoming by-elections to eight assembly seats, including Bihar. The Commission believes that this rule will prevent identification issues and fraudulent voting at polling stations.

These 12 documents will be valid for voting.
