Big Threat: Google said the same thing to 2.5 billion Gmail users, do these two things right now or else...

Google has issued a major alert to 2.5 billion Gmail users around the world. The company has asked people to change their passwords immediately and turn on 2-step verification (2SV). This is because hacker attacks are increasing rapidly, and many people have already fallen victim to them. It is being said that the famous hacking group ShinyHunters is behind these attacks. This group has been active since 2020 and has so far leaked data of big companies like AT&T, Microsoft, Santander, and Ticketmaster.

Their method is the most common but dangerous, such as sending phishing emails. Such emails take users to fake login pages, where people accidentally enter their passwords and security codes.

Google alerted
Google warned in a blog post in June that ShinyHunters may soon launch its Data Leak Site (DLS). A few weeks later, on August 8, Google sent an email to affected Gmail users advising them to secure their accounts immediately.

2-Step Verification, i.e. 2SV, puts an additional lock on your account. Even if a hacker gets your password, he will still need a code sent to your mobile or any other trusted device to log in. Because of this, it becomes very difficult to enter your account.

UK's Action Fraud Agency has also given the same advice. It said, 'The easiest way to secure an email account is to turn on 2-step verification. This can stop hackers, even if they have your password.'

How to turn on 2SV?

Google and other websites have also reminded users that turning on 2SV is very easy. You just have to activate it by going to the security settings of your account. It is also sometimes called 2FA or MFA. This feature is available not only in email but also in banking, social media and shopping accounts.
