New Delhi: Relief news has come for lakhs of members of EPF. The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the last date for activating the Universal Account Number (UAN) and linking the bank account with Aadhaar. In such a situation, the members who have not yet activated UAN and have not linked their bank account with Aadhaar, have got a big relief. Let us tell you that the members whose UAN is not active and bank account is not linked to Aadhaar, will not get the benefit of ELI scheme. To avail the benefit of ELI scheme, it is mandatory for the members to activate UAN and link the bank account with Aadhaar.

ELI scheme was launched in Budget 2024

Actually, for employees who want to claim monetary benefits under the Employment Linked Initiative (ELI) scheme, EPFO ​​has made UAN activation and Aadhaar seeding in bank accounts mandatory. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the ELI scheme in the Union Budget of July 2024. It has three versions A, B and C.

What is ELI A, B and C scheme?

In Budget 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her speech, "Scheme A will focus on employment and first-time entrants into the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) scheme, while Scheme B will focus on job creation in manufacturing. At the same time, Scheme C will focus on supporting employers."

Know what is the new deadline?

The Ministry of Labor and Employment issued a circular on February 21, 2025, saying, "In this regard, the competent authority has extended the deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar seeding in bank account till March 15, 2025." Its deadline has been extended several times before and earlier the deadline was February 15, 2025. In such a situation, members have got 20 more days.

How to activate UAN through Aadhaar?

Step 1. To activate a Universal Account Number (UAN) at home through Aadhaar-based OTP, first of all, you have to visit the EPFO ​​​​member portal.

Step 2. After this, click on Activate UAN under Important Links.

Step 3. Enter your UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, and Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 4. Click Yes on Aadhaar OTP verification.

Step 5. Click on the Aadhaar Authorization PIN and you will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Step 6 After this, activate your UAN by entering the OTP.
