LPG Subsidy: The central government has announced to continue the subsidy given to the people on domestic gas cylinders under the PM Ujjwala Yojana from the year 2025 to 2026. Beneficiaries will be given a subsidy of Rs 300. This benefit will be available only to those beneficiaries who will refill their cylinders maximum 9 times a year.
LPG Subsidy: A big announcement has been made by the central government regarding the subsidy given on LPG gas under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). The central government has announced that the subsidy given to the beneficiaries under this scheme will continue till the year 2025-26. Beneficiaries will be given a subsidy of Rs 300. Its direct benefit will be given to those crores of Ujjwala beneficiaries who will refill the cylinder maximum 9 times a year. This subsidy will be given on 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder. It is estimated that Rs 12,000 crore will be spent on subsidy.
In the year 2022, under this scheme, the government used to give a subsidy of Rs 200 on every cylinder. The benefit of this scheme was available for refilling gas cylinder 12 times a year. This subsidy was given on 5 kg cylinder. Beneficiaries will now be given a subsidy of Rs 300 instead of Rs 200..

Since the launch of Ujjwala Yojana, the number of families using LPG has increased. In the year 2019-2020, per beneficiary used to get refilled at least 3 times. Whereas in the year 2022-23 this number increased to 3.68. At the same time, in 2024-25 this number increased to 4.47. Figures show
Launch of Ujjwala Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was started in 2016. The objective of this scheme is to provide LPG connections to poor families and women without depositing any advance amount. Since the inception of the scheme, connections have been given to about 10.33 crore families across the country. The beneficiaries of the scheme do not have to pay any fee for cylinder, regulator, pipe, DGCC booklet and installation. Since the launch of Ujjwala 2.0, the government provides the first refill and a stove free of cost.
