Big danger to those using WhatsApp, government warns, do this immediately

If you use WhatsApp on an iPhone or MacBook, then update it immediately. The government has issued a high-risk warning saying that the old version is providing a way for hackers to attack.
India Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) of the Government of India has issued a high-risk warning for WhatsApp users. Actually, a flaw has been found in the iOS and macOS versions of this app. By taking advantage of this flaw, hackers can access the sensitive data of users. In such a situation, if you use WhatsApp on your iPhone or MacBook, then this app needs to be updated immediately. By not doing so, hackers can access your chat and other sensitive data.
Flaw found here
According to the advisory of CERT-In, this flaw has come due to improper handling of synchronized messages in linked devices. Taking advantage of this, a remote attacker can send malicious requests to a device. This will make the user's private chats and confidential information reach the attacker without his knowledge. This will have a special effect on versions of WhatsApp older than iOS 2.25.21.73, WhatsApp Business older than 2.25.21.78 and WhatsApp for Mac older than 2.25.21.78. These versions of WhatsApp are most vulnerable to hacking and it is advised to update them immediately.
The danger increases here
The advisory states that this weakness is dangerous alone, but if it is used with another bug (CVE-2025-43300) of the Apple platform, the danger increases further. Hackers can carry out targeted attacks by taking advantage of both the flaws. Cyber security experts say that these methods open up many ways for hackers to access the user's sensitive data.
What to do to protect yourself?
CERT-In has also told users the ways to protect themselves from these flaws. The first and most important way is to update WhatsApp. In the latest updates, the company keeps releasing security patches, which can remove such flaws.
