Big change by IRCTC: You will not be able to do this work in the first 30 minutes of Tatkal ticket booking, what is the new rule?

If you are planning to travel by train and are thinking of booking Tatkal tickets, then this news is very important for you. IRCTC has made a big change in the Tatkal ticket booking process, which has come into effect from July 15, 2025. This new rule has been brought with the aim of giving relief to the common passengers and bringing transparency in ticket booking.
What is the new rule?
According to the new guidelines of the Railways, now registered agents and third-party booking services have been completely stopped during the first 30 minutes of Tatkal ticket booking.
Till what time will only common passengers be able to book tickets?
This simply means that Tatkal booking for the AC class will be from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, for the Non-AC class from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. Only common passengers will be able to book tickets during these times. No agent, bulk booking, or third-party software will be able to book in these 30 minutes.
Why was this step taken?
According to the Railway Department, this step has been taken to prevent black marketing of tickets and frauds done by agents. It has often been seen that as soon as the Tatkal ticket window opens, all the tickets disappear within a few minutes. Due to this, common passengers are not able to book tickets, and they face problems. The new rule has been brought to provide relief to such people.
Now Aadhaar OTP verification has become necessary.
Along with this, another big change has been made, and Aadhaar OTP verification has been made mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking. That is, now booking will be possible only when the passenger's IRCTC profile is linked to Aadhaar, and the OTP received on the mobile will be successfully verified.
