This is an innovative taxi service that will allow customers to book cabs, autos, and bike taxis through a specially developed application.

Bharat Taxi Services: Bharat Taxi is a new cooperative ride-hailing service that will officially launch in India on January 1, 2026. Unlike Uber and Ola, it operates according to a driver-owned model that promises zero commissions, no surge pricing, and fair earnings for drivers.

Service Launching January 1

Bharat Taxi Service has been announced to launch in the country on January 1, 2026. This is an innovative taxi service that will allow customers to book cabs, autos, and bike taxis through a specially developed application. While it looks similar to Uber, Ola, or Rapido, it is completely different. The service has already launched in beta in some areas of Delhi and Gujarat, giving users a glimpse of how the service will function.

What is Bharat Taxi?

Bharat Taxi operates on a cooperative taxi service model. This means that drivers, rather than any private company or investor, control the service. It could also be called the "Amul model for taxis," where thousands of taxis operate the service together. Like other taxi apps, it offers easy ride booking for users. It also gives drivers more control and earning opportunities.

Whose initiative is Bharat Taxi?

The service is supported by the New Delhi-based Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. The cooperative's chairman, Jayen Mehta, is also the managing director of Amul. Its development and services are also supported by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. This is a major and first-of-its-kind initiative in the Indian transportation market.

How does Bharat Taxi work?

Bharat Taxi operates on a commission-free business model. This ensures that drivers receive 80% to 100% of their earnings at the end of the day. This is in contrast to the commissions charged by most online cab services. Although drivers will have to pay a small fee to use the platform, it will be very low and used only for operational expenses. For passengers, this model means there will be no surge pricing, and fares will remain stable for routes such as home or office.

How to download and use Bharat Taxi?

The Bharat Taxi app is available on the Google Play Store (Android) and Apple App Store (iPhone). Currently, the app is in beta testing, so its services are limited. The final version of the app may differ after its nationwide launch. The app uses the same backend support technology as the ONDC-supported Namma Yatri app.
