Cunning scammers are swindling people by pretending to facilitate e-KYC via phone calls and messages. If you haven't completed your e-KYC yet and receive such a call or message, please exercise caution.

How does the scam unfold?

The most important thing to note is that gas agencies never conduct e-KYC over the phone. You can complete the e-KYC process online or by visiting the gas agency in person. Do not trust any such calls. In these instances, the scammer will pose as a gas agency employee and claim that your gas connection will be disconnected if you do not complete the e-KYC immediately. Hearing this often causes people to panic, leading them to fall for the scammer's trap without thinking it through.
