In today's digital era, the methods of online fraud are getting smarter day by day. Scammers are trying to cheat people through tempting offers and fake apps. In this episode, the Government of India has issued a warning about a new fake trading app named 5pit Trade. Information about this fake app has been shared by Cyber Dost, which is a cyber security awareness campaign under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Fraudsters often copy real trading apps and create an exact same interface so that people get cheated. The design of 5pit Trade is also kept similar to the popular trading app 5paisa, which may confuse many users.

When users download this app thinking it to be real and create an account, they themselves hand over their personal information and bank details to the scammers.

If you have also downloaded an app like 5pit Trade, then be careful. This app is waiting to withdraw money from your bank account. First of all, uninstall this app from your phone and before that delete the bank details and other sensitive information given in the app.

Cyber Dost has also shared a post from its official X (formerly Twitter) account in which a picture of that fake app is also given. Interestingly, the logo of Apple App Store is also visible on that app, from which it can be guessed that this app was available there as well or an attempt was made to give such an illusion to the people.

If you see any suspicious app that copies a famous app or has suspicious activities, then immediately report it to the cyber crime portal or the concerned platform. The government is taking strict action in such cases and efforts are continuously being made to make the public aware.
