Banks will remain closed in certain states on Tuesday, 23 September 2025. While most states will operate normally, Jammu and Kashmir will observe a holiday in honor of Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary. On this day, all government offices, schools, colleges, and banks in the region will remain shut.

Why the Bank Holiday?

Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, is remembered for his visionary leadership and modern outlook. He was a strong advocate for education, social reforms, and women’s empowerment. Born on 23 September 1895, he ascended the throne in 1925.
