Bank Holiday: Banks to remain closed for three consecutive days starting June 26..
If you need to visit a bank branch for tasks like depositing cash, clearing cheques, or getting a demand draft made, this is crucial information for you. In the last week of June, banking operations will remain suspended for three consecutive days across several states in the country. Bank branches will remain completely closed from June 26 to June 28. However, for the convenience of customers, digital banking and ATM services will continue to operate round-the-clock without interruption during this period.
**Holidays begin on June 26**
According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) official holiday calendar, all public and private sector banks across the country will remain open as usual from June 22 to June 25 (Thursday) of this week. All routine banking services will function normally during these four days.
The series of holidays actually begins on June 26 (Friday), when banks in many states and cities will observe a holiday for Muharram. Please note that this holiday is not observed nationwide simultaneously; therefore, customers should check the bank holiday list specific to their local city. The very next day, June 27, banks across the country will remain closed as it is the fourth Saturday of the month. This is followed by the weekly Sunday holiday on June 28. Consequently, in states where Muharram is observed on Friday, bank branches will remain closed for three consecutive days.
**Bank closures in July**
Looking ahead to July—the month following this final June weekend—banks will remain closed for a total of six days across various regions due to festivals and local observances. Additionally, banks nationwide will observe their usual holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays, alongside the standard Sunday closures.
According to RBI guidelines, banks in Aizawl will remain closed on July 6 due to MHIP Day. Subsequently, a holiday has been declared in Shillong on July 9. Meanwhile, on July 16, bank branches in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, and Imphal will remain closed due to regional festivals such as Rath Yatra, Kang, and Harela. The following day, July 17, banks in Shillong will observe a holiday, while banks in Agartala will remain closed on July 22 for Kharchi Puja. On a positive note, apart from weekends, there are no holidays in July that would cause banks across the entire country to close simultaneously.
**Online Services to Remain Operational**
Despite the closure of physical bank branches, customers need not worry about their financial needs. Net banking, mobile banking, and UPI services will continue to function normally. Financial transactions can be carried out as usual via various digital platforms such as Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. Additionally, ATMs will remain fully operational for cash withdrawals and deposits, ensuring you do not face any inconvenience over the weekend.
