In today's digital world, smartphones have become an important part of our lives, which offer many facilities, but these smartphones also cause many types of harm, such as phone hacks by hackers, spam calls, etc. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has implemented a new rule aimed at reducing the prevalence of fake calls and messages. This rule directly targets fraudulent communications at the network level. Telecom companies are also taking advantage of advanced technologies like AI to deal with these scams. Scammers are finding new ways to exploit unsuspecting individuals, especially through internet calls, let's know about them-

Understanding Internet Call Scams

Scammers are increasingly using internet calling, often from numbers that start with +697 or +698, making them difficult to trace. These calls pose a major challenge, as scammers often hide their location using VPNs, complicating efforts to identify and catch them.

Identifying scam calls

Don’t share personal information: Scammers may impersonate government officials or bank representatives.

Request a callback number: If they insist on information without giving a number to verify their identity, it’s likely a scam.

Reporting scams

To empower citizens in the fight against fraud, the government has launched the Chakshu portal. If you receive suspicious calls or messages, you can report them on this platform.
