Azim Premji Scholarship for Delhi's Daughters: Annual Financial Aid of ₹30,000

The Azim Premji Scholarship has been launched for female students in Delhi. Under this scheme, up to 20,000 female students pursuing higher education in Delhi will receive financial assistance this year.

The Azim Premji Foundation has introduced the Azim Premji Scholarship for female students in Delhi. Under this scheme, up to 20,000 female students pursuing higher education in Delhi will receive financial aid this year. Selected students will receive an annual scholarship of ₹30,000, starting from the first year of college until the completion of their graduation degree or diploma. Depending on the course duration, a student can receive total financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh.

Students who completed their schooling in any of the 21 states and union territories are eligible to apply for the Azim Premji Scholarship. These include Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

To avail the benefits of the scheme, it is mandatory for the student to have completed her Class 10 and Class 12 education at a government school. Additionally, she must have secured admission in the first year of an undergraduate degree or diploma course at a recognized institution in India.

The Azim Premji Foundation aims to scale up this scholarship program nationwide. According to the Foundation, the plan is to award scholarships to 5 lakh female students annually. Since most undergraduate courses last approximately three years and students receive the scholarship throughout the course duration, there could be around 15 lakh female students holding an active Azim Premji Scholarship at any given time.

This scholarship program was launched in 2024. According to the foundation, more than 1.9 lakh female students have received assistance through this scheme since its inception. The scheme has been expanded in Delhi to reach a wider scale.

The application process for the scholarship is entirely online and free of cost. Interested female students can apply through the official website of the Azim Premji Foundation.

Speaking about the scholarship, Anurag Behar, CEO of the foundation, stated that girls will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country and society. Therefore, it is essential to provide them with equal opportunities across all sectors.

He added that higher education is a vital means of long-term empowerment for girls, and this scholarship was launched with the aim of alleviating some of the challenges they face in pursuing higher education.
