Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, people are provided with an Ayushman card. This card allows people to receive free treatment up to ₹5 lakh. It was launched in 2018. However, some treatments are not covered under this card.

If you are planning to use your Ayushman card for treatment, it's important to know under which circumstances you cannot avail of the insurance cover.

Treatments not covered by the card:
Treatment for illnesses that can be treated in an outpatient department (OPD).

Private OPD consultations are also not included in the insurance cover.

If you visit the hospital only for tests, it is not covered.

However, if you go for tests after consulting a doctor, it is covered under the insurance.

What are the benefits of the Ayushman card?
This scheme includes 3 days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days of post-hospitalization.

All tests are included under this scheme.

The cost of medicines is also covered.

Food and beverages during hospitalization are also covered by the insurance.

There are also some limitations regarding eligibility.

Who is not eligible for the card?
The Ayushman card was primarily launched for poor and needy people. People working in the organized sector or those who pay their taxes regularly will not be able to benefit from this card.

Also, if you are a beneficiary of ESIC (Employees' State Insurance Corporation) or if PF (Provident Fund) is deducted from your salary, you will not be able to avail of the scheme. Government employees are also not eligible for this card.
