Ayushman Card: If you don't do this, your free treatment will stop; the government has changed the rules related to the Ayushman Card..
Ayushman Card New Rules: If you or your family are benefiting from free treatment up to ₹5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, then this news is very important for you. The government has announced major changes to the rules related to the Ayushman card. Now, neither a new card will be issued nor will treatment be guaranteed on old cards without Aadhaar-based e-KYC.
E-KYC is Now Mandatory
The National Health Authority (NHA) has made the card issuance process stricter. A new system called BIS 2.0 (Beneficiary Identification System) has been implemented. Under this system, a new Ayushman card will only be issued when the beneficiary's Aadhaar-based e-KYC is completed.
Several Frauds Detected
To prevent fraud and irregularities in the system, the government is now using Artificial Intelligence (AI). So far, 61,932 Ayushman cards have been found to be suspicious across the country. Physical verification has already begun for more than 48,000 of these cards. If any card is found to be fraudulent during the investigation, the free medical facility associated with it will be immediately stopped.
Restrictions on Adding New Members
Earlier, adding new family members to the Ayushman card was quite easy, but now the government has significantly restricted this. Arbitrary addition of new names to the card has almost stopped, ensuring that only genuinely needy people can benefit from it.
Why Were These Changes Necessary?
The government says that many people who were not eligible were benefiting from this scheme. This was increasing the burden on the government exchequer, and the benefits were not reaching the truly needy. These strict measures have been taken to prevent fraud and clean up the system.
If your card is not linked to Aadhaar or your information is found to be incorrect, you may face problems during treatment at the hospital. Check your e-KYC status in time.
