Many people do not know whether they are eligible for the Ayushman card, which provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to the poor.

In India, millions of people still live below the poverty line and face great challenges, especially when a family member falls ill. To help such individuals, the central government launched the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.

Under this scheme, eligible individuals are issued Ayushman cards, allowing them to get treatment in private or government hospitals. However, many people do not know the income criteria to get an Ayushman card and therefore do not apply.

There are no specific rules regarding the age or gender of family members under this scheme, i.e. every member of the family can avail of it.

About the income limit, families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh are eligible for this scheme. Additionally, families living without an earning adult between the ages of 16 and 59 years, those living in kutcha houses, daily wage laborers, and people from the SC-ST category can also avail the benefits of this scheme.
