Pink Saheli Smart Card: A major change is set to take place in the coming months for women traveling for free on Delhi's DTC and Cluster buses. The Delhi government is now preparing to phase out the existing 'Pink Ticket' system. In its place, preparations are underway to introduce the 'Pink Saheli Smart Card.' The Pink Ticket will be completely discontinued starting July 2026, and the public transport network will be integrated into a digital system. Once the Pink Saheli Smart Card is implemented, female passengers will be required to tap their cards on an electronic machine upon boarding the bus. This will enable the creation of a digital record of their journey. Let's explore this in greater detail...

Why is this change being introduced?
The Pink Ticket system was launched in 2019, enabling women in Delhi to travel on buses free of cost. The Delhi government now intends to integrate this scheme with the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) platform, aligning it with the Central Government's 'One Nation, One Card' initiative. This digital card system is expected to enhance transparency in the distribution of subsidies and allow for more effective tracking of passenger movement.

Over 6 Lakh Registrations for the Pink Saheli Smart Card
According to data from the Transport Department, since registrations began in March, approximately 6 lakh women in Delhi have already obtained their Pink Saheli Smart Cards through 58 designated centers across the city. However, only 5 to 6 percent of these women are currently utilizing the 'tap-in' system while traveling on buses. Officials believe that the continued issuance of physical Pink Paper Tickets is preventing many passengers from fully transitioning to the digital system.

Where can you get a Pink Saheli Smart Card?
The Pink Card facility is available exclusively to women residing in Delhi. To obtain the card, applicants must possess a Delhi-issued Aadhaar card. Additionally, an active mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card is mandatory. Furthermore, any female aged 12 years or older is eligible to apply for this card. Women can get their 'Pink Saheli Smart' cards issued at DTC depots/pass sections, SDM offices, and at over 50 special centers.
