It has become mandatory for ESIC beneficiaries to link their identity cards with Aadhaar. Under Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, this process can be completed online from the comfort of your home.

If you are an ESIC beneficiary and avail of the facilities provided by the scheme, linking your Aadhaar to your ESIC insurance account is now essential. The Union Ministry of Labour & Employment announced via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that ESIC beneficiaries must link their ESIC identity cards with Aadhaar. The primary objective of this initiative is to accurately identify genuine beneficiaries and ensure seamless access to medical treatment, medicines, and other benefits.

The good news is that you do not need to visit a government office for this; you can complete the Aadhaar seeding process yourself from home via the ESIC online portal. If you haven't linked your Aadhaar to your ESIC records yet, here is an easy way to do so.

How to link your ESIC card with Aadhaar from home?

  • First, visit the official ESIC website.
  • Select the "Insured Persons and Beneficiaries" section on the homepage.
  • Log in using your Insurance Number (User ID) and password.
  • After logging in, click on the "Aadhaar Seeding for IP" option.
  • Check your name in the displayed information and select the Aadhaar seeding option.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number in the designated box.
  • Enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and submit the process.
  • A reference number will appear on the screen after successful verification.
  • Once the Aadhaar details are verified against ESIC records, your Aadhaar will be linked to your insurance account.

Keep your Aadhaar-linked mobile number active.

Before linking Aadhaar, ensure that the correct mobile number is registered with your Aadhaar card, as the OTP for online verification will be sent to that number. In such a scenario, if your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar or is inactive, you may face significant difficulties in completing the online verification process.

Which employees are eligible for ESIC benefits?

The ESIC scheme primarily provides social security and medical facilities to eligible employees in the organized and private sectors. Generally, employees with a monthly salary of up to ₹21,000 fall under its ambit. However, for employees with disabilities, the salary limit is set at ₹25,000 per month.
