Have you noticed that when you watch Instagram Reels and keep watching or liking videos related to a specific topic, like travel, you start seeing similar videos repeatedly? This happens because Reels works on a specific algorithm. It shows you videos based on your preferences and viewing habits.

But sometimes, you start seeing the same trends, irrelevant videos, or content that you no longer like. In such cases, resetting your Instagram Reels algorithm can refresh your feed. Here's how to do it.

Why is resetting the Instagram Reels algorithm necessary?

Sometimes, you start seeing the same videos repeatedly on Instagram Reels. This is because the app analyzes your activity to understand what you like. It tracks which Reels you watch completely, like, or comment on. Then, your feed is customized accordingly. However, accidentally watching certain videos can also mess up the algorithm. Moreover, our preferences change over time. In such situations, resetting the Reels algorithm is a good option so that you can see fresh and relevant content based on your new preferences.

How to reset the Instagram Reels algorithm?

First, open the Instagram app and go to your profile.
Tap on the three lines (More options) in the upper right corner.
In the menu, select Content Preferences.
Tap on Reset Suggested Content.
Read the information displayed on the screen and accept the terms.
Then, tap on Reset Suggested Content again to confirm.

After the reset is complete, Instagram will gradually start suggesting content to you in a new way. Initially, you might see videos on different topics than before. Instagram says that once it's reset, it cannot be reverted to its previous state.
