The month of October ends today, and November begins tomorrow. Banks will remain closed on several days this month. Therefore, before heading to the bank, it is advisable to check whether your branch is open.

Today, October 31 (Saturday), banks will remain open in most parts of the country. Since this is the fifth Saturday of the month, banks will operate as usual, in accordance with RBI guidelines (banks are typically closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month). Today, bank branches will be closed only in Gujarat (Ahmedabad) on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti; in all other states, banks are open as usual.

With the month of November beginning tomorrow, bank customers should take note of the upcoming holiday schedule. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, bank branches in certain cities will remain closed due to regional festivals and regular weekly holidays. Since you may need to visit a bank for tasks like depositing cheques, obtaining demand drafts, or accessing a locker, it is important to keep track of these holidays to avoid any wasted trips.

A busy month for holidays in November

The RBI holiday calendar for November includes festivals such as Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Guru Nanak Jayanti, alongside regular holidays for Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Please note that not all holidays apply nationwide; therefore, whether a bank branch remains closed depends on its location and the specific festivals or observances being celebrated in that region.

When will banks be closed next week?

Tomorrow, November 1, is a Sunday, so banks will be closed. Banks will also remain closed on November 8 and November 15 (both Sundays), while November 14 marks the holiday for the second Saturday. Later in the month, November 22 and November 29 fall on Sundays. November 28 will be a holiday for the fourth Saturday. These are standard holidays applicable across India, though holidays related to festivals may vary by location. In addition to this coming Sunday, banks will also remain closed on Monday; bank branches in Shillong will be closed on that day due to the Nongkrem Dance festival.
