The Delhi government is set to take a major step towards cleaning the Yamuna River, which is considered the lifeline of Delhi. The 'Yamuna Riverfront Cleanliness Campaign 2026' will be organized in the capital on June 14. Notably, any citizen of Delhi can join this campaign and become a part of the initiative to save the Yamuna. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta herself will lead this mega cleanliness drive. She will visit the Yamuna ghats to participate in the cleanup and convey a message about environmental conservation to the public.

**Public Participation is Crucial**
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta states that the dream of a clean, pristine, and free-flowing Yamuna can only be realized if the general public fulfills their responsibilities alongside the government. She emphasized that the Yamuna is not merely a river but an integral part of Delhi's cultural, religious, and environmental identity; therefore, its protection and cleanliness are a shared responsibility for all.

**Thousands to Participate**
Around 500 social, religious, educational, and voluntary organizations are expected to participate in the campaign on June 14. Additionally, thousands of volunteers and ordinary citizens from various parts of Delhi will join the initiative. The government aims to transform this into a mass movement, encouraging people to adopt the habit of keeping the Yamuna clean not just for a single day, but in their daily lives.

**Previous Campaign Achieved Great Success**
The Chief Minister noted that the 'Meri Yamuna, Mera Kartavya' (My Yamuna, My Duty) campaign was conducted last year, drawing participation from thousands of people. During that drive, over 12 tonnes of waste were collected from the Yamuna and its ghats and disposed of scientifically. The success of that campaign demonstrated that significant change is possible when the government and the public work together.

**Comprehensive Preparations by the Administration**
To ensure the campaign's success, the Delhi government is coordinating preparations with the local administration, police, municipal corporations, the health department, and other agencies. Special arrangements are being made for security, traffic management, drinking water, sanitation, first aid, and emergency services. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta states that the Yamuna is not merely a river but the identity of Delhi. The campaign on June 14th offers every resident of Delhi an opportunity to step forward and become a part of this transformation.
