According to the report, the company is testing Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for Instagram reels.

With the arrival of this feature in Instagram, users will be able to play the reels playing on the platform in a smaller screen size. Users will be able to resize the reels window according to the screen of their phone so that they can do any other work on the phone while watching reels. This feature of Instagram will give users the freedom to do multitasking.

In Meta's social media platforms, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, users get the feature of video calling in PiP mode. App researcher Radu Oncescu has shared a screenshot of this feature of Instagram Reels on X. In this, he told how this picture-in-picture mode of Instagram will work and how users will be able to use it. However, this feature is currently in the early stages of testing. In such a situation, it can be used when it is officially rolled out.

How will PiP mode work?

After the feature is rolled out for Instagram Reels, users will have to go to the button with three dots given above while watching reels on the platform. There they will also get the option of picture-in-picture mode along with other options. If users want to watch that reel in picture-in-picture mode, then they should turn on the given toggle. In this way, this PiP mode of Instagram will be turned on.

Instagram users will now be able to multitask on their smartphones while watching reels. If they want, they can chat while watching reels on their phone or access any other app. This feature will allow users to do multiple tasks simultaneously.
