Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: For the majority of people in India, any major journey begins at a railway station; however, passengers' experiences are often fraught with difficulties. Outdated infrastructure and a lack of amenities have long posed a challenge for travelers. Recognizing this, Indian Railways has launched the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to enhance passenger convenience. Under this scheme, Indian Railways has decided to modernize and redevelop 13 railway stations in Delhi.

What is the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme?
The objective of this scheme is to transform railway stations, equipping them with modern amenities, improved connectivity, and an enhanced passenger experience. To date, 1,338 railway stations across the country have been selected for this scheme, including the 13 railway stations in Delhi that are slated for redevelopment.

These Stations Will Be Transformed into High-Tech Hubs:

Work in Progress at Several Stations
At Safdarjung Station, the primary structural work has been completed. The station building and operational facilities are now ready. Work on the air concourse, platform shelters, and access pathways is proceeding rapidly and is currently in its final stages. Meanwhile, at Bijwasan Station, the structural framework for the station building and air concourse has been completed. Finishing work is currently underway at this location. Additionally, work on platform shelters, electrical systems, and the Sewage Treatment Plant is also in progress. Upon the completion of this scheme, passengers will have access to clean, modern, and convenient railway stations, thereby making their journeys smoother and more enjoyable.

Amenities to be Provided
Under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, railway stations are being equipped with lifts, escalators, free high-speed Wi-Fi, modern waiting halls, clean restrooms, and improved information systems. The station buildings are being designed to reflect the local architecture, heritage, and culture of their respective regions. For instance, glimpses of the Rajput architectural style can be observed at stations in Rajasthan. All redeveloped stations are being designed to cater to the needs of persons with disabilities. At these stations, kiosks for the sale of local products under the 'One Station One Product' (OSOP) initiative, food courts, and spaces for business meetings are being developed.
