With the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra 2026, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has made extensive arrangements to welcome and facilitate the lakhs of pilgrims arriving to seek the blessings of 'Baba Barfani'. Jammu Tawi Railway Station has been developed as a key reception hub for travelers, with special measures implemented to ensure safety, convenience, and smooth movement. If you are also planning to undertake the Amarnath Yatra, here is a look at the facilities available at Jammu Tawi Railway Station.
**Passenger Holding Area Prepared**
The railway administration has developed a large, well-ventilated, and fully shaded passenger holding area within the station premises. Seating arrangements have been made to accommodate hundreds of passengers simultaneously. Amenities such as lighting, fans, air coolers, and drinking water have been provided in the area. Round-the-clock housekeeping staff has been deployed to maintain cleanliness.
**Arrangements for Filling Water on Platforms**
In view of the summer heat and the rising number of passengers, special arrangements have been made to ensure trains are filled with water on time at the platforms, preventing any inconvenience to travelers. A 24-hour help desk is operational at the station to assist passengers. Railway staff, along with Scouts and Guides, are deployed here to provide information regarding train schedules and platforms, as well as medical assistance and other necessary guidance.
**Monitoring for Crowd Control**
A senior railway supervisor has been deployed at the station round-the-clock to manage crowds and ensure the smooth movement of passengers. Additionally, extra ticket-checking staff, commercial personnel, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans are maintaining constant vigilance. Special surveillance is being conducted via CCTV cameras across the railway station and its surrounding areas. With security as a priority, round-the-clock monitoring is being carried out from the railway's 'War Room', and additional security forces have been deployed.
**Operations Begin on Platforms 4 and 5**
The Railways has announced that platforms 4 and 5 at Jammu Railway Station have been opened for train operations. On July 3, train number 13152 operated from the new platforms. Regular announcements regarding trains and platforms are also being made for the convenience of passengers.
**Contact the Help Desk for Assistance**
The railway administration has urged Amarnath pilgrims to complete mandatory registration before their journey, purchase tickets only from authorized counters, refrain from accepting food or beverages from strangers, and contact the help desk or the 'Rail Madad' helpline (139) for any assistance.
