Bharti Airtel and Tata Teleservices are required to deposit their installments for outstanding Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) by March 31. This directive was issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). These two companies must pay approximately ₹10,000 crore to the government by March 31. According to the DoT, unlike Vodafone Idea (Vi), these companies have not received any relief; consequently, in accordance with the Supreme Court's order, they must deposit their AGR installments—failure to do so will be deemed contempt of court. Amidst this news, the shares of Tata Teleservices and Vi witnessed a decline today.

How much did the shares fall?
Shares of Airtel and Tata Teleservices dropped amidst the news regarding the AGR installment deposits. Around 10:00 AM, Tata Teleservices' share price fell by ₹0.61 (or 1.84%) to ₹32.53, while Airtel's share price slipped by 1.87% to ₹1,807.65.

Who owes how much AGR?
According to media reports, Bharti Airtel is required to pay over ₹5,000 crore towards its AGR dues, while Tata Teleservices needs to pay more than ₹4,000 crore. It is also reported that this amount will increase further once the interest accrued on the installments is included.

Vodafone Idea received relief
In a major relief for Vi, the government announced that it would freeze the company's AGR-related dues at ₹87,695 crore as of December 31, 2025, and allow the company to pay this amount in installments over a period of 16 years, extending up to 2041. The majority of the AGR payments are scheduled to commence after 10 years.

Meanwhile, a DoT committee is currently re-examining Vi's AGR dues, and this process is expected to be completed shortly. The final amount the company will have to pay is expected to decrease significantly. If this happens, the company will receive further relief.
