Amidst rising pollution in Delhi, the government has announced a major step to provide relief to school children. Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has announced that air purifiers will be installed in 10,000 classrooms of government schools in the capital. The aim is to provide children with clean and safe air during their studies, so that their health remains good and they can study without any problems.
Addressing a press conference, Education Minister Ashish Sood said that the Delhi government is not only taking immediate steps to tackle pollution, but is also adopting long-term, sustainable measures. He said that the health of children is the government's top priority and providing a clean environment in schools is its responsibility. The minister said that sometimes the pollution level rises so high that children have difficulty breathing. In such a situation, it is extremely important to ensure clean air inside the classrooms. This decision has been taken with this in mind.
10,000 Classrooms in the First Phase
Ashish Sood said that this plan will be implemented in a phased manner. In the first phase, air purifiers will be installed in 10,000 classrooms located in different areas of Delhi. After that, the plan will be extended based on need and experience. He said, "We want our children to study smartly and breathe smart air. Clean air is essential for both the physical and mental development of children."
Slamming Showy Politics
During the press conference, the Education Minister also targeted the previous Aam Aadmi Party government. He said that serious problems like pollution cannot be solved through mere showmanship. Ashish Sood said, "We are not the kind of people who flaunt big degrees and run temporary campaigns like odd-even or 'car on-car off'. Our government is tackling the problem of pollution through administrative and permanent measures." He said that some measures have only a short-term effect, but the government is focusing on decisions that will provide long-term benefits.
Cleaning not just schools, but also the streets
The Education Minister also stated that the government is not limiting its efforts to schools alone, but is working to reduce pollution throughout the entire city. He said that, in his capacity as the minister in charge of urban affairs, he has instructed the Public Works Department to utilize the funds collected from the environmental cess. These funds will be used to purchase mechanical road sweeping machines for each assembly constituency. These machines will remove dust and dirt from the roads, thereby reducing airborne pollutants.
