Tata Group's Air India announced it to provide in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity on domestic flights on the first day of the new year. Air India has become India's first airline to provide free Wi-Fi service. Now passengers sitting in Air India's Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and selected Airbus A321neo flights will be able to access Wi-Fi even at 10,000 feet above. The best thing is that you will be able to run social media accounts like Facebook or YouTube and keep yourself updated.
How to use Air India Wi-Fi?
You don't have to do much to use Wi-Fi on Air India flights.
For this, you just have to enable Wi-Fi on your device and go to Wi-Fi settings.
Here you will see the Air India Wi-Fi network. Select this option.
You will go directly to the Air India portal. Write your PNR and the last letter of your name here. After this, you will be able to access complimentary internet.
You will be able to use in-flight Wi-Fi for free on laptops, iOS and Android smartphones, and tablets. This service is already available on some international routes of Air India. It was first started in the pilot program in flights to New York, Paris, Singapore, and London.
In-flight Wi-Fi service
Actually, Wi-Fi service would have been started on flights in India earlier. But this decision was pending for the permission of the government. The Union Telecommunication Ministry amended the Flight and Maritime Connectivity Rules in the second half of last year. Due to this, a decision was taken to start a free Wi-Fi service in all domestic airlines of India.
