If you are also fond of making videos with AI, then you can create AI videos for free. AI search startup Perplexity has upgraded its chatbot on X (formerly Twitter) with a new video generation feature, which has now flooded the Elon Musk-owned platform with AI-made visuals.
If you are also fond of making videos with AI, then you can create AI videos for free. AI search startup Perplexity has upgraded its chatbot on X (formerly Twitter) with a new video generation feature, which has now flooded the Elon Musk-owned platform with AI-made visuals.
What is the new feature?
Perplexity's 'Ask Perplexity' bot can now create short eight-second video clips (with audio) on X. All you have to do is write a short prompt by tagging @AskPerplexity and in return they get an AI video that includes creative visuals, audio, and dialogue.
This new feature can increase the chatbot's engagement, but with it, the possibility of spreading fake and misleading information has also increased. Already X has faced criticism for lax content moderation, although Perplexity claims that it has installed strong content filters so that this feature cannot be misused.
Competition with Grok intensifies.
This feature also reflects the growing competition between AskPerplexity and Grok, developed by Elon Musk's xAI company. Both of them are among the most active and tagged automated accounts on X, although Grok cannot generate videos right now, which gives Perplexity an edge.
Fictional videos being made on celebrities
After this feature of Perplexity came, users on X started posting imaginary videos based on celebrities, politicians, and global leaders. Some videos were so strange that the AskPerplexity account itself had to post, "I read all of your video request DMs ... some people need help."
Now available on WhatsApp too.
Perplexity is now also offering service on WhatsApp to make its chatbot more accessible. From April 2025, Perplexity AI will be available on WhatsApp, allowing users to ask questions directly without downloading any separate app. For this you have to save +1 (833) 436-3285.
