AI: Tech company CEO made a shocking prediction about Google, know what is the matter..

The use of AI for internet search is increasing worldwide, due to which, in recent times, Google's share in the search market has fallen below 90 percent for the first time since 2015. Many tech experts have also described the rise of AI tools like ChatGPT as a threat to Google. Meanwhile, Airbnb Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Chesky has clearly said that it is too early to consider AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity as the "new Google". He believes that Google's hold as a search engine is still strong, and AI will take time to reach this level.
Why can't AI replace Google yet?
In a conversation with investors on the company's second quarter results of FY26, Chesky said, "We should not consider them as the new Google right now. We are still in the early stages of this technology." He said that AI chatbots help a lot in customer service and personalization, but they cannot yet match Google in terms of referrals and search traffic.
Chesky also said that the AI models that run chatbots like ChatGPT are not exclusive to any one platform. “ChatGPT’s model is not exclusive to them. We can use its API at Airbnb and choose other models as well.” He believes that success in AI will come not just from building the best model but from the right interface and tuning the model according to specific needs.
Airbnb bets on AI
The company said that its AI customer service agent in the US has reduced the number of customers contacting human agents by about 15%. This system has been trained with data from 13 different models and thousands of conversations. Currently, it is available in English, but it will be launched in more languages this year.
By next year, it will become more personalized, so that it will not only tell customers how to cancel a booking but will also complete this process itself. In the future, it will also help customers to plan and book travel.
Limits and possibilities of AI
Chesky acknowledged that AI chatbots are changing the way companies connect with customers, but at the moment, they are 'enhancers', not complete replacements. According to him, with investment and innovation in the right direction, the impact of AI can increase manifold in the coming times.
