Some trains are such that passengers stay on board for 3 to 4 days because their journeys are thousands of kilometers long. In such a situation, Indian Railways also gives the option of a journey break to its passengers, in which the passenger can stop at a station and rest and then start his journey again.

What is Break Journey Rule Service

Break Journey Rule is given to every reservation passenger by Indian Railways. According to the official website of the railways, if a passenger has a single journey ticket for a journey of more than 500 kilometers, then he can be given a break of two days on the journey route only once. However, this facility is given only for traveling more than 500 km. On the other hand, if a passenger has a ticket for a journey longer than 2000 km, then he can be given a break twice.

How to avail of this facility

To avail of this facility, the passenger will have to get down between his boarding station and the station where the journey ends. The passenger can get down at any station between these two stations and get approval for a journey break by showing the ticket to the ticket collector or station master. Through this facility, the journey can be started again from the same station. At the same time, this ticket will have to be deposited at the place where your journey ends.

A passenger with a single journey ticket of 1050 km wants to divide his journey into 400 km and 801 km. Only one break journey is allowed on a distance of 801 km for a maximum of 2 days.

A passenger with a single journey ticket of 2000 km wants to split the journey at 800 km, 905 km, and 1505 km. Two break journeys are allowed at each break point of the journey as per the passenger's choice, for a maximum of two days.

Break journey service is not available on these trains

If you want to avail of this service, then you have to buy tickets for those trains which are eligible for this facility, this facility cannot be availed in short-distance trains. Let us tell you that a break in the journey is not allowed on tickets for some trains like Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi etc.
