Understanding this problem, the Indian government has started the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) scheme for the citizens of the country. Through which the government has provided free health insurance of up to ₹ 5 lakh for all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, regardless of their financial status. Eligibility: All senior citizens aged 70 years and above, regardless of their financial status, can avail healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Coverage:
Senior citizens who are already part of families covered under the scheme will get an additional ₹5 lakh coverage, over and above the insurance of their family members.
Other senior citizens above the age of 70 will also get coverage of up to ₹5 lakh annually on a family basis.
Hospital List:
To find hospitals that are part of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, visit the official Ayushman Bharat website.
Select the 'Find Hospital' option, fill in details such as state, district and type of hospital, enter the captcha and click 'Search'. A list of nearby hospitals will be displayed.
Disease Coverage: The scheme covers around 1,929 diseases and procedures. This includes medicines, diagnostic services, doctor's fees, operation theatre costs and ICU charges.
Cashless treatment:
Families can avail cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually, which includes medical tests, treatments, medicines, pre-hospitalisation and post-hospital care.
This cashless facility is available in both government and private hospitals across the country.
