Today, the Aadhaar card has become a vital document for everyone. From opening a bank account to availing government schemes, Aadhaar is required everywhere. It is a 12-digit unique ID issued by the UIDAI and used as proof of identity and address.

A special version of Aadhaar has been created for children under five years of age, called Baal Aadhaar. It contains the child's name, photo, date of birth, and gender, and is linked to the parent's Aadhaar number. Fingerprints or eye scans are not taken from children at this age.

What is Baal Aadhaar?
This is an Aadhaar card issued for children under five years of age. It contains the child's photo, name, date of birth, and parental information. It can be made at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Many hospitals offer Aadhaar enrolment at the time of birth.

How to get Baal Aadhaar?
First, book an appointment online. Visit the UIDAI website. Go to “My Aadhaar” and select “Book an Appointment.” Enter your city and mobile number and verify the OTP. Choose a date and time to visit the enrollment center. To enroll offline, visit the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center. Fill out the form and submit your child's documents. Parents should provide their biometric and Aadhaar information. You will receive an Acknowledgement Slip containing the enrollment ID. You can check the status using this. The Baal Aadhaar will be delivered to your address in approximately 6090 days.

What are the benefits?
Provides identity and address proof for the child. Helps in availing the benefits of government schemes and subsidies. It is useful for school admission, scholarships, health insurance, and vaccinations. It remains valid even after the child grows up and can be updated at the ages of 5 and 15. Fingerprints, eye scans, and photo updates are required when the child turns 5 and 15. Biometrics and photo re-enrollment are required at the age of 15.
