In a major relief for Aadhaar holders across India, Unique Identification Authority of India has officially extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates by one more year. Citizens can now update their Aadhaar details online without paying any fee until June 14, 2027.

Earlier, the free update facility was scheduled to end on June 15, 2026. However, UIDAI has now extended the benefit through an official memorandum.

Where Can You Update Aadhaar for Free?

The free Aadhaar update facility will be available only through the official myAadhaar Portal.

Users can update details such as:

  • Address
  • Mobile number
  • Name corrections
  • Other demographic information

No fee will be charged if these updates are completed online through the portal before the new deadline.

mAadhaar App to Be Discontinued Soon

UIDAI has also announced that the older mAadhaar app will soon be shut down. Users will be required to shift to the new Aadhaar App, which will include several upgraded privacy and security features.

Features Expected in the New Aadhaar App

  • QR-based secure Aadhaar sharing
  • Improved privacy controls
  • Faster access to Aadhaar services
  • Better digital verification system

According to UIDAI, the new app is designed to provide a smarter, safer, and more seamless digital experience for users.

How to Update Aadhaar Online

Users can easily complete Aadhaar updates online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official myAadhaar portal
  2. Log in using Aadhaar number and OTP
  3. Upload valid Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents
