If your child is between 15 and 17 years old and their Aadhaar biometric details have not yet been updated, this information is for you. According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the Aadhaar numbers of children who fail to undergo the mandatory biometric update at the prescribed age may be deactivated. Consequently, these children could face difficulties in accessing benefits related to education, scholarships, and various government schemes.

**Special Campaign for Aadhaar Updates**

UIDAI is conducting a special campaign regarding the mandatory biometric updates for children's Aadhaar cards. The objective of this campaign is to reach children who have attained the specified age but have not yet updated their biometrics. Through this campaign, Aadhaar records of children who have turned 7 and 17 are being reviewed to ensure timely updates. UIDAI has clarified that the service for mandatory biometric updates for children is completely free of charge; no fee is levied for this at Aadhaar Seva Kendras.

**Mandatory Biometric Updates at Ages 5 and 15**

According to UIDAI regulations, it is mandatory to update biometrics for children's Aadhaar cards twice. The first update must be done when the child turns 5, and the second when they turn 15. During this process, the child's fingerprints, iris scan, and a recent photograph are recorded in the Aadhaar database, ensuring the Aadhaar records remain up-to-date.
