Aadhaar Card Update: With the beginning of a new month (November 1, 2025), major changes have come into effect in the rules related to Aadhaar, an essential identity document for Indian citizens. Through these changes, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has attempted to simplify Aadhaar-related processes for citizens. The biggest relief is that cardholders will no longer need to visit an Aadhaar center for many important updates.

To make the process easier and more convenient for users, Aadhaar cardholders' demographic information can now be updated online. Aadhaar cardholders will now be able to update information such as their name, address, date of birth, and mobile number online.

1. Demographic Information Online Update

For the convenience of users, UIDAI has now approved the online update of Aadhaar cardholders' demographic information. Cardholders will now be able to update their name, address, date of birth, and mobile number online from the comfort of their homes. This change aims to simplify the process for Aadhaar cardholders, saving them time.

2. New Fee Structure
According to information provided on the UIDAI's official website, a fee of ₹125 will be charged for biometric updates of fingerprints and photographs.

However, if the Aadhaar cardholder is 5-7 years old and is updating for the first time, the service will be free.

Similarly, cardholders aged 15-17 will not have to pay any fee even if they update twice.

Furthermore, if the cardholder updates demographic information such as enrollment number, gender, date of birth, address, mobile number, and email address, it will be free along with the biometric update, but if done separately, a fee of ₹75 will be charged.

Aadhaar reprinting will now cost ₹40.

Additionally, the home enrollment service charge for the first applicant for an Aadhaar card will be ₹700.

For other individuals at the same address, the charge will be ₹350 per person.

3. Aadhaar-PAN Linking Mandatory
Furthermore, Aadhaar cardholders will be required to link their PAN card with Aadhaar (Aadhaar-PAN Link) before December 31, 2025.

The facility will remain free until June 14, 2026.
Aadhaar cardholders can submit proof of identity and address, or documents for name, gender, and DOB, on the Aadhaar portal free of charge. However, this facility will remain free until June 14, 2026.
