The government is launching a major initiative to reduce pollution in the Delhi-NCR region and phase out old commercial vehicles. In collaboration with the Delhi government, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is organizing a special 'Transport Fair' in Delhi tomorrow, October 28, 2026 (Wednesday), under the 'Parivartan Yojana' (Transformation Scheme). This fair will prove highly beneficial for owners of old trucks and buses, offering them comprehensive information and assistance—from scrapping their existing vehicles to purchasing new ones—all under one roof.

According to the details, the Transport Fair on October 28 will commence at 9:30 AM. It will be held near the District Transport Office (DTO) in Burari, North Delhi.

**All Industry Experts Under One Roof**
To assist vehicle owners, the fair will bring together Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and their dealers, Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs), banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), as well as oil companies and CNG/gas distributors. Vehicle owners can interact directly with these stakeholders to discuss loan options, the proper vehicle-scrapping process, and the benefits available when purchasing new vehicles.

**Government Offering Substantial Incentives for Replacing Old Vehicles**
The primary objective of the 'Parivartan Yojana' is to improve air quality in the Delhi-NCR region. To achieve this, the government is providing several incentives to encourage the replacement of old trucks and buses with new, modern vehicles:

*   In addition to discounts offered by manufacturers, buyers will receive an extra discount of at least 8%.
*   A 5% subsidy on interest rates will be provided for vehicle loans.
*   New vehicles will be exempt from road tax for a full 10-year period.
*   For those purchasing electric vehicles (EVs), benefits include a one-time cash incentive, monthly fuel vouchers, and a complete waiver of registration fees. 40,000 Registrations on the Parivahan Portal
According to government data, approximately 40,000 vehicle owners have registered on the Parivahan portal so far. Through this 'Parivahan Mela' (transport fair), the government aims to extend the benefits of this scheme to as many people as possible and simplify the application process.
